f The Application of Relational Database Technology to Worlwide Potential Field Data Integration

GETECH has over the past 9 years compiled huge amounts of gravity and magnetic data. During this time the volumes of data have increased as well as the number of concurrent projects. This occurred at a time of dramatic increase in available computer power. The utilisation of this new technology required a fundamental rethink in the approach to data management. The goal was to apply new technologies to improve previously used techniques, rather than the more common approach of attempting to mould new technologies to old [and tried and tested!] techniques. The former involves considerably more challenge and risk, with correspondingly greater rewards.
