Abstract

A project was carried out to test the suitability of shear waves as hydrocarbon indicator and anisotropy detector. The survey involved a 3-Component acquisition with explosive, source and auxiliary acquisitions for surface characterisation. Here we mainly address the aspects related to data acquisition and processing with respect to the cost and the quality of the final data. We take into account the conventional P wave recordings and the shear data generated by mode conversion at the subsurface reflectors, that is the P-S wave data.
