Abstract
In acoustic logging, large amounts of data put forward severe challenges for data transmission and storage. Data compression techniques, to some extent, may relieve this problem. In this paper, we proposed a lossless compression method for correlative waveforms data. In the method, prediction method and wavelet transform are first used to remove data correlation; then, a bit-recombination mark coding method is applied to encode the processed data. Field acoustic logging waveforms data have been applied to test our method and several other lossless compression methods. Test results validate the correctness of our method and demonstrate its advantages. The proposed method is potentially applicable to downhole acoustic waveforms data compression.
