Abstract

In digital processing of seismic data the earth model sampling problem is faced "when layers are thin relative to the seismic resolution capability. Because they cannot be the true reflection coefficients, then what do the reflection coefficients recovered from an equal-time sample model ... mean?" (Robinson, Geophysics 1985,p.2744). An answer to this question is done here in terms of the revealed 'kernel profile'.
