Abstract

Seismic reflection data are processed by geophysicists who then provide the geologists with a "final" section, a migrated time section, often together with a depth migration. Even for optimal processing, which is generally the case nowadays, the quality and the reliability of the final images are variable and are not indicated on the documents. Informations relative to lateral and depth resolution are particularly missing. This lack of information leads to serious errors of interpretation, especially in target positioning.
