Abstract
Since an isotropic velocity model can no longer be taken as the "neutral" or unbiased assumption, the inclusion of anisotropy for imaging field data should be considered. Anisotropic migration needs estimates of the subsurface anisotropy as well as the ability to propagate wavefields or trace rays through such a model.
