Abstract
The thermal evolution of sedimentary basins and their margins is of major importance for hydrocarbon exploration as it controls the timing of hydrocarbon generation. During the last decade, apatite fission-track (AFT) thermochronology has become established as an important tool for unraveling thermal history information in the ~70° to 120°C temperature interval.
