Abstract
The Magnus field was discovered in 1974 and has been in production since 1983. The Upper Jurassic sand-shale reservoir forms a structurally dipping, faulted stratigraphic trap terminating in erosional unconformity against shales. The field is now mature and nearing the end of its production plateau. An irregular floodfront, partial water breakthrough, large pressure gradients and reservoir heterogeneity are some of the challenges which face the asset team if production is to be maintained and the inevitable decline curve to be effectively managed.
