Abstract
The Apenninic-Maghrebian Orogen comprises the whole oroclinalic bell which originated from North Africa to Central Italy, during the Neogene Africa-Europe collision. It represents the dominant structural domain of the Central Mediterranean region, as it is located between the Sardinian Block, a European fragment, and the margins of the Adria and African plates. These latter, together with the oceanic Ionian Basin located between them, act as foreland areas.
