Abstract
The Victor gasfield lies in the Southern North Sea some 140 km off the Lincolnshire coast. The field was discovered by well 49/22-2 in May 1972, with a further delineation well, 49/17-8, being drilled in the same year. No further appraisal drilling occurred until 1982 when 49/22-4a was drilled as a deviated well from the proposed platform location. This well confirmed the southern extension of the field and was suspended as a future production well. Four further production wells were then pre-drilled in 1983 with the production platform and facilities being installed for first gas in October 1984. No further well activity or intervention work was required until 1993, nine years later.
