The Buzuluk depression is a big (60,000 sq.km) tectonic element of the Volga-Ural basin, located between the Zhigulev-Pugachev and the South Tatar arches. From the north it is limited by the Kamsk-Kinel system of troughs and on the south it plunges stepwise to the Pre-Caspian basin.
