Abstract

There are two principal groups of hydrocarbon accumulations in the Vienna Basin: the fields of the first group occur in the central part of the province, while the hydrocarbons of the second group are associated with fault traps in the marginal parts of the basin. The Steinberg - Schrattenberg fault system played an essential role in entrapment of hydrocarbons of the north-western edge of the Vienna Basin.
