Abstract
The "Bassin du Sud-Est" (Southeast Basin) is the thickest French onshore Mesozoic basin as up to 10 km of Mesozoic-Cenozoic sediments may locally be found. This basin is located to the southeast -of the -Massif Central, where a Paleozoic basement, once part of the Variscan orogen, is present at outcrop or partly concealed below Neogene volcanoes.
