Abstract

In the north - western part of the Moesian Platform more than 20 oil and gas fields have been discovered. Hydrocarbons are reservoired in the Devonian, Permo-Triassic, Middle and Upper Jurassic, Lower Cretaceous and Sarmatian deposits. The sedimentary cover comprises Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Neopene sediments. The lithostratigraphic correlation and geophysical data suggest that because of the geological evolution of the Moesian Platform the main unconformities are between the Middle -Carboniferous and Permo-Triassic, Upper Triassic and Middle Jurassic formations as well as between the Upper Cretaceous and Neopene ones. The purpose of this paper is the evaluation of the hydrocarbon quantities generated by source rocks from the western part of the Moesian Platform.
