Abstract
Recent fundamental research has been carried out to develop the oil genesis theory, but the geological history of the realization of the petroleum potential of source rocks remains, until now, a rather complicated problem. We used two approaches: firstly, open pyrolysis experiments for chemical-kinetics modelling, and secondly, a basin modelling technique. This study includes such questions as the validity of paleotemperature reconstruction, the determination of the initial petroleum potential for source rocks located in or after the oil window zone, the expulsion threshold and others.
