f Sedimentation and filling of the Northern North Sea Rift Basin

The Northern North Sea experienced two episodes of lithospheric extension during the Permo- Triassic and late Jurassic. Along the Mid-Nórwegian margin, a third rifting event led to crustal breakup and formation of oceanic crust near the Paleocene-Eocene transition. This talk will focus on principles and styles of sedimentation during the various stages in this multiphase rift evolution, as illustrated by selected examples from the area.
