Abstract
Methods GC-MS were used to investigate oils and organic matter (OM) of Upper Precambrian (sometimes Cambrian) age, occuring on the Siberian and East-European platforms. Content, character, catagenetic rank and other features of these oils are genetically related to the OM of Precambrian source rocks. Ancient oils are widely spread over the Siberian Platform; they are confined to gallogen-carbonate and terrigene-carbonate formations. The Precambrian deposits of the East-European Platform are the oil-gas bearing ones within the Upper-Kamsk depression, their presence also being observed in the Moscow Syneclise (Danilovsk Area, Biriuliovo Drillhole).
