Abstract

Efficient exploration for oil and gas reserves has relied heavily on "high quality" images of subsurface formations generated from seismic data. The need for ever-increasing levels of quality at a colt which brings long-term value to the exploration/production enterprise has contributed to significant changes in management thought and practice in a geophysical services company, and to the adoption of a business strategy in which quality improvement is the key feature. A model for quality improvement is employed at all levels of the organisation, focusing on the needs of the customer and the processen by which inputs are transformed into outputs .
