Abstract
The common feeling of field geophysicists is that long Vibroseis sweeps provide the most effective means of improving the signal-to-noise ratio, thus improving the signal content of the vibroseis data. Since day one of usage of vibrators as a source energy, people have kept studying all the parameters involved and indeed the sweep length is one of these parameters but, the question which remains to be answered is "how long a sweep should we use?". The answer to this question is not as easy as most people think, we might not harm the data by using a sweep which is 3 or 4 seconds longer, but certainly this means unnecessary extra costs .
