Abstract

The correlation of well data with seismic sections is a fundamental aspect of a seismic interpretation. This correlation can be carried out by using synthetic seismograms at the well location. It is thus important to onderstand the spatial distribution of the reflected energy to the profile line. In newly explored areas with sparse data, the seismic sections are not always located optimal to the dip direction and to the well location. As the seismic data are only migrated in the in-lire direction the reflected energy does not coincide with the geological setting encountered by Wells located on the profile fine.
