Abstract

The pseudospectral Fourier method is becoming fairly popular for use in seismic forward modeling. Conventionally, the pseudospectral method is used on a Cartesian grid. Thus, interfaces between adjacent geological layers are represented in a "staircase fashion" causing spurious diffractions. In this work, a much better representation of the interfaces is obtained by using the pseudospectral method on a curved grid following the (main) interfaces [1] . Furthermore, the accuracy is increased by clustering the grid lines in the neighbourhood of the interfaces (see fig.1) .
