Abstract

We solved for the near-surface Q distribution in a portion of a 3-D survey in the Ouachita frontal thrust zone of southeastern Oklahoma using a 3-D SIRT algorithm. The problem is divided into separate solutions of velocity and attenuation . The near-surface Q can be used for pre-stack Q compensation, surface consistent deconvolution operator design or amplitude "slatics". The approach was first tested with model data before being applied to the field data .
