Abstract

A vertical electrical sounding can be easily performed under water if prosit is made of the reciprocity theorem: Only one pair of current electrodes is used in the vicinity of the centre of a symetrical array and several pairs of potential electrodes are placed at increasing distances from the centre (Fig .1). Thus, if n+1 pairs of electrodes are mounted in advance on a multi-conductive cable, laying on the water floor, a VES with n array lengths can be performed in less than one minute .
