Abstract
Geophysical tomography is a common imaging tool used to understand subsurface structure. The oil reservoir and shallow subsurface regions are complex where seismic velocity varies rapidly. Because of the complexity in such regions, it is difficult to apply traditional ray tracing techniques. Furthermore, traditional ray tracing methods could not easily include head waves. New methods have been developed to overcome this problem.
