Abstract

Conventional methods (ABC method, T-X method, etc.) of estimating refraction staties rely on the assumption of regular shooting geometries and reverse profiles. When these conditions are not satisfied, e.g. in crooked lines or in 3-D shooting geometries, these methods may break down. In addition, many of them have difficulties resolving intermediate and short wavelength staties "pockets" caused by rapid vertical and lateral changes in the near-surface .
