Abstract
Much of the land seismic data recorded in Saudi Arabia is severely contaminated by ground roll (Al-Husseini et al., 1981), even when areal source and receiver arrays are used. In some areas, we use f-k filtering to remove the ground roll, but often we rely on high fold CDP stacking to attenuate the noise as interpreters do not like the f-k filtering artifacts. In this paper, we describe an alternative, cost-effective procedure for removing ground roll and other relatively steeply dipping linear events such as refractions ("coherent noise") using the linear Radon transform.
