Abstract
As our geophysical exploration efforts expand into the western and northern areas of the Arabian peninsula, we often encounter the complex geology of faulting, salt diapirs and steeply dipping beds. The near, surface for the examples shown here is well behaved resulting in little or no static problems. The proper imaging of the faults and steeply dipping interfaces, however, requires the application of Dip Moveout prior to post-stack migration and the use of a sleep dip migration algorithm. Line "A" is a good example of the imaging effects of Dip Moveout and migration; Lines "B" and "C" show the effects of potential out-of-plane diffractions.
