Abstract

The problematic effects of remanent magnetization in magnetic interpretation are well known (e.g. Green, 1960; Books, 1962). If remanent effects can be identified, several approaches can be used to determine the magnetization parameters (see Schnetzler and Taylor, 1984), however many of these techniques require restrictive assumptions about the geometry of the sources. Most often, the use of forward modelling is the only way to obtain an estimate of the magnetization parameters.
