Abstract
A giant fan complex lies offshore Mauritania, in moderate waters. It extends over 160 km in the east-west direction, from the shelf-break to the west, and 80 km in the north-south direction. It has accumulated over more than 3000 metres of deposits from Aptian to Paleocene in age.
