Accurate depth maps and correctly depth converted cross sections are primary products of geologic and geophysical investigations. Because the time structures on our seismic sections do not necessarily mirror the true depth structures, depth conversion may become a demanding task. Despite the obvious importance of reliable depth models, approximations in the depth conversion process often reduce the quality of the final products.
