f Wavefield decomposition for anisotropic media

Many authors have proposed processing multicomponent data by treating each wavetype as a separate scalar wavefield. While this is not valid in general media it is a very convenient approximation that has proven to be useful in practice. The first stage in using this method is to decompose the displacement fields measured at the surface into fields corresponding to the amplitudes of the different wavetypes.
