Abstract

Prestack finite-difference depth migration is a widely used method for imaging complex geological structures (Schultz and Sherwood, 1980). This migration method not only can be used for imaging seismic data in presence of lateral variations in velocity, but its results can be also used for improving the velocity model by applying focusing analysis to the migrated wavefield (Faye and Jeannot, 1986).
