Parallel Simulation of Petroleum Reservoirs

The parallelisation of an oil reservoir simulator is de scribed. The target machine architecture is an array of transputers. The reservoir simulator is described. Since the most time consuming part of the reservoir simulation is the solution of the resultant systems of equations the parallelisation of this is discussed. The scaling properties and perfonnance of a key routine are reported.
