Abstract

Algebraic and numerical techniques for constructing curvilinear simulation grids are reviewed. Attention is given to the control of smoothness and orthogonality while deforming grids around geological structures, well patterns, faults and reservoir boundaries. A new method for constructing grids using global minimisation is outlined.
