Abstract

Leading to lower residual saturations compared to other recovery processes, miscible fluid injection is of major interest in petroleum industry. However, because of dispersion phenomena, these methods of recovery are characterised by the presence of a mixing zone between the injected fluid and the displaced ones where oil is diluted. As a result, it is very important to study the mechanisms governing the formation and evolution of the mixing zone in order to predict and control it.
