Abstract

The lack of adequate methods for representing velocity fields and other spatially indexed geologic parameters has limited the sophistication, economic viability, and accuracy of many seismic processes, especially 3-D seismic depth imaging. Recently, techniques borrowed from research in computeraided geometric design have been reported by Sword (1991), Ritsema, Nobili, and Mallet (1991) and Wyatt, et al (1992). We describe a similar computer representation based on topological data structures as developed by Weiler (1988).
