Abstract
The sweep signal is the most important parameter of vibroseis sources. The determination of sweep signal essentially depends on the seismic properties of the area and resolution required in the target zone. To obtain optimum sweep, a model study related to the area has to be done. Depending on the signal/Noise ratio of the area linear and non-linear sweeps are the most commonly employed. Another type of sweep technique, such as "combined sweep" can be employed in the areas where reflected signals are weak and ambient noise is dominant over reflections.
