Abstract
The AVO of pre-critical reflections can usually be approximated by lower degree polynomials. Some investigators have applied least squares fitting of polynomials (the reflection polynomials) to describe the AVO in a more condensed form. From the set of coefficients of the reflection polynomials various seismic sections may then be constructed revealing various properties of the CMP data, e.g. true zero offset sections, gradient sections and so forth.
