Abstract

Much of the world's chromite deposits are bound to the ophiolite sequences, i.e. to the ultramafic-mafic rocks exposed after plate collision. Form and petrographical domain of these "Alpinetype" deposits seem to be fairly characteristic. Investigations were performed on Cuban deposits to elaborate a survey complex to detect and/or explore podiform chromite lenses.
