Abstract
Absorption analysis of Love-type seam waves plays an important role in in -seam seismics (ISS), as the applicability of this method depends in particular on the rate by which the seam waves are attenuated white propagating inside and along a coat seam. The absorption relation of the Love-type seam waves is discussed assuming a constant quality factor for SH -waves in coat and country rock. In this case it is shown, that the resulting quality factor of Love-type seam waves depends strongly on frequency. As a consequence its attanuation coefficient is a non-linear function of frequency in the total frequency domain. Estimations of the frequency dependent quality factor of the Love-type seam waves from well-designed transmission data are presented.
