f A Strategy for approximating the Zoeppritz equations

The variation of seismic amplitudes with offset contains information about vlastic parameters of the subsurface, which can be related to lithology and pore fluide. Amplitude versus offset (AVO) processing aims at extracting vlastic and lithologic al parameters from prestack seismic data. When the amplitude variations are assumed to be caused solely by angle dependent reflection coefficients (all other amplitude effects compensated for) the relation between vlastic parameters and amplitudes is given by the Zoeppritz equations.
