Abstract

As discovered by many investigators, due to restriction of the frequency range and owing to the presence of noise in seismic traces, it is necessary to restrict the resolving power of seismic inversion methods in order to reach high accuracy in the results. In particular, Jurado et al. (1992) showed that the application of stratum models in a full-wave inversion instead of a finite-difference grid had made it possible to increase significantly the accuracy of evaluated acoustic parameters. Nevertheless we want to obtain high resolution in the models obtained, therefore the question is raised: to what extent should we restrict, the resolving power of seismic inversion methods to provide sufficient accuracy of solutions?
