The International Lithosphere Progam of the Inter-Union Commission on the Lithosphere is sponsoring a new initiative in mapping in-situ stresses, which will extend and augment the successful World Stress Map project that has recently been completed . This initiative, known as, the Global Sedimentary Basin Stress Project, involve & a coordinated international effort to document the stress regimes of the World's major sedimentary basins.
