Abstract

In areas of complex geological structure, the associated seismic velocity field generally has variation in both the horizontal and vertical direction. Conventional approaches to pre-stack depth migration that allow for variation in V(x,z) are usually computationally intensive. Due to time constraints, constructing the velocity field is a time consuming exercise that usually leads to a simplified model.
