Abstract
The optimal way to produce a correct depth image from seismic data is by prestack depth migration. This procedure requires good knowledge about velocity model of the subsurface and it is relatively expensive. An alternative way to construct a depth image is post stack time to depth conversion, usually performed by post stack depth migration. In this case it is assumed that conventional stacked section closely represents a zero-offset section.
