Abstract

The possibilities of standard vertical electrical sounding, using Schlumbrger array, are compared with crossed square resistivity sounding in complex geological conditions created by faulting in electrically anisotropic sediments. The comparison was based on the experimental investigations performed on two parallel test lines about 750 m distant and supported by the transient electromagnetic (TEM and LOTEM) as well as high resolution seismic reflection methods. We had also at our disposal well log data from several wells, the closest one being about 500 m distent. This additional geophysical data were obtained along the shorter test line (400 m long) during experimental investigations with differently defined and with rather broader goals.
