Abstract

Simulated annealing (SA) is a stochastic combinatorial optimisation technique which has been used in a wide variety of physical applications, some of which include the famous travelling salesman problem [Bonomi et al. (1984)], the enhancement of degraded images [Geman et al. (1984)] and the calculation of statics corrections in seismics [Rothman (1986)].
