f North Atlantic and Barents Sea frontier exploration

The study area stretches from 62°-78° north and from-the continental shelf break to the Norwegian mainland and to 32° east in the Barents Sea. Exploration in the North Atlantic and Barents Sea started in the early 1980's, and has resulted in several Jurassic oil and gas discoveries in the Haltenbanken and Nordland area, offshore mid-Norway, and gas discoveries offshore northern Norway in the Troms area.
