Abstract
In Germany and most other regions of Europe low permeable rock prevails in the deep underground. Geothermal energy can therefore not be tapped without enhancing the rock permeability, i.e. without stimulation. The development of appropriate stimulation concepts for low permeable rock is the key question to recover the huge amount of stored geothermal energy in the underground.
