Abstract
Summary
In seismically constrained integrated reservoir modeling, seismic inversion results are used to constrain static reservoir models. When the inversion delivers results (porosity or net to gross) on a larger vertical scale than the one used in the static model, some form of downscaling is required to populate the static model. On a single synthetic dataset, we have tested six algorithms on the downscaling problem for continuous variables: to generate property realizations from well, seismic-derived and variogram data. Bayesian Downscaling ( Doyen, 1997 ) and BSSIM ( Liu and Journel, 2009 ) are the best performing methods in this test.
